You can't cite the Indo as a source for anything to do with Ireland. Kevin Meyers writes for them, he's as british as they come with his "Alternative view of republicanism". You're argument is moot with citing figures from such an unreliable source. Anyone can write anything in a newspaper. The government controls the media.

Assessing the Census figures beside electoral figures for the pro-Union and pro-United Ireland parties we can draw a much more reliable projection. Indeed, if Sinn Fein ever became the majority party then we would consider that a referendum would be on the cards. The Independent's survey was not without its controversies; especially regarding its classification of the strongly nationalist South Down area as lowly populated, therefore devaluing responses from this area.

How can the most reliable facts and figures regarding the situation here be described as irrelevant babble? I am a citizen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Are you? I didn't claim that survey to be "the most conclusive piece of evidence in the world", nice hyperbolic strawman. It IS the most reliable and accurate survey of its kind pertaining to that particular question. Produce a better source and I'll concede. And what else did you consider "irrelevant babble" lol?

For the love of God would you stop your constant irrelevant babble! Are you Northern Irish? If not, stop pretending you know what it's like to live in Northern Ireland! I don't think a tiny survey conducted by the Irish Times is the most conclusive piece of evidence in the world, do you?

I would just like to say this:People on both sides were hurt, mistreated or killed and for what? Regardless of the political opinion polls or survey's conducted it will take a long time for anyone to forgive let alone forget.Say what you will about this post, I really don't care - all I ask is that you spare a though for all of those families, British and Irish alike who have suffered during these times, and that's all I'm going to say.Cheers |
